The JMSDF's first missile boat, the Type 1, posed numerous problems due to its unusual shape. Furthermore, the growing threat of unidentified vessels led to a keen awareness of the need for high-speed boats. Against this backdrop, the Hayabusa-class was newly planned, with the first boat, "Hayabusa," completed in 2002. The propulsion system uses waterjets powered by three gas turbines, boasting a speed of 44 knots. Under control of the OYQ-8B Tactical Information Processing System, the Type 90 ship-to-ship guided missiles and 62-caliber 76mm rapid-fire guns deliver precise attacks. The included photo-etched parts include handrails, ladders, doors, hatches, life jackets, air deflectors, 12.7cm machine guns, machine gun deflectors, gangway ladders, and water jet guards, allowing for even more precise detailing of the "Hayabusa." This is a full-hull model. The image shows an assembled and painted prototype.
[Set Contents] Includes one etching sheet (for one ship) and decals for the sister ships "Wakataka" and "Ohtaka."
