The Takanami-class destroyer is a fourth-generation general-purpose destroyer built as an improved version of the previous Murasame-class. DD-110 Takanami is the flagship, commissioned in 2003 and home port of Yokosuka. It has also served overseas in the Indian Ocean and off the coast of Somalia, and has been deployed to the Middle East since February 2020.
