Musician Atahualpa Yupanqui (1908-92) is the pinnacle of Folklore born in Argentina. Then, the long-awaited latest work in the series, which is the first time in 3 years and 4 months since “Atahualpa Yupanqui 1963-1966" (TKSB-007), which was released during the 'Takeoff & Samvina' era, which is the predecessor of the 'Takemura Office & San Viña' label, is finally here.

When he was a child, Yupanqui moved to the northernmost part of Argentina, which is also a treasure trove of folk songs, and he will lay the foundation for music there. When I was around 20 years old, I began composing songs that absorbed such traditional music, and in 1936, I experienced recording for the first time at age 28. Then, in the 50s, they went to Europe and established their fame there, and they went back and forth between Argentina and Europe, left many recordings, and finally became popular with music fans all over the world. Furthermore, they also visited Japan for the first memorable time in '64.

And in this work “Atahualpa Yupanqui 1966-1968,” we started with a famous performance of [1] [2] [3] recorded in '66, which had been omitted due to allowable time in order to record “Pajadol of the Body Being Chased” in the previous work. Yupanqui continued to come to Japan in '66 and '67, and at that time he left recordings such as [6], which he composed in Japan. Songs recorded by him in August '67 after returning to his home country are included in [4] to [10]. Yupanqui, who turned 60 the following year, moved his base of activities to Paris, and what he left behind was 7 songs [11] to [17], and in particular [11] “I Work, I Want to Work” [13] “I'm Free” [17] and “The Dance of Ripe Corn” are particularly noteworthy.

Furthermore, as a bonus track, the famous song “Estregita” by Mexican Manuel Ponce, which Yupanqui liked to play at concerts, etc., and “Nenkororo,” which arranges the “Chugoku Regional Lullaby,” which he was fascinated by when visiting Japan, in the Yupanqui style, are included. I also heard “Farewell to Japan,” where Yupanqui, who left Japan when he first came to Japan, talks about his impressions of Japan.

Also, so that you can understand the world of Yupanqui, Japanese translations and meanings are introduced, without omitting any songs and readings from the recorded songs.
