This work was produced in 1979 as an anime adaptation of the popular manga by Riyoko Ikeda. Set in Versailles before and after the French Revolution, the story depicts the dramatic lives of the cross-dressing beauty Oscar and the Queen of France, Marie Antoinette, and is known to have many loyal fans to this day. Each DVD volume contains eight episodes, running for approximately three hours and ten minutes, and the collector's edition booklet provides explanations of each episode's story and highlights key points.
