Description
KENTEX is a Japanese watch brand that designs and manufactures watches based on the concept of "high-quality watches at reasonable prices." Founded in 1989, KENTEX is a domestically produced watch manufacturer. Since 2001, the company has been developing the JSDF (Japan Self-Defense Forces) series of Japanese-made military watches. By listening to the voices of actual members of the Self-Defense Forces (SDF), the company has developed these Japanese-made military watches. By imbuing the JSDF series with the spirit of the Self-Defense Forces and striving for authenticity, the company has earned the trust of the Ministry of Defense, receiving contracts and official logos. The JSDF series is not simply a Japanese military watch. This is because the Self-Defense Forces are not simply a military force. Respect for this noble ideal—an organization that does not invade other countries, protects Japan's peace and security, and upholds the discipline of "exclusively defensive defense"—is the driving force behind our product development. [Product Name] KENTEX F-4 Phantom II Model This Phantom II model was designed to commemorate the achievements of the F-4EJ/EJ Kai (F-4 Phantom II), which will be sadly retired from service from 1971 to 2021. [Development Background] The F-4EJ Kai Phantom II is the oldest fighter aircraft in the Japan Air Self-Defense Force. Its history is quite long, spanning nearly half a century from the first aircraft (No. 301) imported in July 1971 until March 2021. To mark this milestone of the aircraft's retirement, we wanted to pass on the F-4EJ Kai Phantom II's nearly half-century history through a watch. Through interviews with personnel and cooperation from the Ministry of Defence Staff Office, we were able to move forward with development. In addition, there were many requests for a Phantom model at the Japan Air Self-Defense Force's air shows, and this model was born out of destiny for 2021, the year of the aircraft's sad retirement. [Product Details] - This watch features a domestically produced solar movement with an operating time of approximately six months when fully charged. The dial features the "Phantom the Spook" mark, symbolic of the F-4EJ Kai Phantom II, against a backdrop of the proud insignia of the Japan Air Self-Defense Force. - The second hand replicates the aircraft markings displayed inside the cockpit. - The case back is engraved with "PHANTOM FOREVER," reflecting the aircraft's operational period from 1971 to 2021 and the desire for this timepiece to be passed down forever. - The aircraft type number "F-4" is featured on the inner dial ring at 4 o'clock and on the crown. - "PHANTOM" is engraved on the metal fitting that secures the strap at 6 o'clock. The entire watch is inspired by the F-4. - The strap is made of CORDURA fabric to closely resemble the aircraft's coloring. Its water-repellent and abrasion-resistant properties make it so durable that it is even used in military equipment. Stitching in the center strengthens and tauts the strap, making it even more durable in areas prone to wear.
