Description :
The caper spinosa is a bushy, vine-like and perennial shrub. It offers either flower buds to be transformed into capers, or magnificent fragrant white flowers.
The flowering is spectacular with white flowers with numerous purple stamens, although these flowers only last one day.. The flowering period is generally in June-July.
This plant has a spreading shape of approximately 50 cm by 1 meter. Its drooping or spreading vines give it a graceful appearance.
The caper bush is semi-hardy down to -5°C and very resistant to drought.. It is suitable for hanging, flowerbeds, wall edging, fences and dry rockeries.. It can also be grown in a conservatory or temperate greenhouse.
Growing Conditions :
Native to the Mediterranean regions, the caper bush appreciates heat. In France, it is recommended to plant it in open ground only in the South. For other regions, growing in pots is preferable, with indoor storage in winter.
