Brand Introduction
Hamilton is a watch company established in 1892 in Lancaster, Pennsylvania. The brand first gained fame with the development of the Broadway Limited pocket watch, known as the 'Watch of Railroad Accuracy' for its precise timekeeping for railroads. In 1914, Hamilton became a supplier to the U.S. Army Air Service, and by 1919, it began providing timing services for ski events and the U.S. Postal Service. In the 1930s, many airlines adopted Hamilton watches as their official timepieces. During World War II, Hamilton temporarily halted civilian sales to produce nearly one million military watches. In 1970, Hamilton introduced the world's first digital watch, the 'Pulsar,' and in 1977, it was acquired by SSIH, a group that included Omega, Tissot, and Longines. In 1983, Hamilton became part of the Swatch Group, positioning itself as a prominent brand in the watch industry today.
